In recognition of this powerful interplay, our 2017 IONS Conference — The Science of What Connects Us — will pair presenters who can speak insightfully on a topic of consciousness: one from a scientific perspective, and the other from the lens of a practitioner.

Dr. Dean Radin will join mentalist Alain Nu to take a dynamic look at magic and it’s impact on our reality. Why does it continue to have such a strong presence in our cultures? Have we lost some secret knowledge from ancient traditions? What are the limits to our human potential?
Dr. Garret Yount (molecular neurobiology) and Dr. Dawson Church (energy psychology, integrative and natural medicine) combine their expertise to explore the therapeutic applications of consciousness and epigenetics, looking specifically at Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). EFT has had recent success with rehabilitating effects on veterans with PTSD. What other ways can our bodies, down to our DNA, shift and change through the intentional conscious attention?
Since its heyday in the spiritualist movement of the Victorian era, channeling has had a reputation of being a bit of a ruse, conning the gullible and grieving. But hoaxes aside, is there scientific evidence for channeling that could help bolster the credibility of this ancient practice in people’s minds?
