Probing the Frontier of Epigenetics: Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)
Can we change how our genetic code is expressed? Emotional Freedom Techniques use elements of cognitive therapy and exposure therapy and combine them with acupressure, in the form of fingertip tapping on twelve acupuncture points. More than a hundred papers, including dozens of clinical trials, published in peer-reviewed medical and psychology journals show that EFT is effective for anxiety, depression, pain, phobias, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other problems. But how deeply does EFT affect us? Does it reach our genes? Our ability to regulate our own gene expression has revolutionary implications for the field of public health and evolutionary biology. In this session, you’ll learn about results from experiments that support this notion, and we’ll take a look at ongoing research that explores the connection between EFT and the “dark matter” of our genome.
