Join us to celebrate 50 years of leading edge of consciousness research, and discover new directions for the next decades. During this free event in our special series honoring our 50th anniversary, we’ll hear from the IONS science team, including Helané Wahbeh, Dean Radin, Arnaud Delorme, Garret Yount, and Cedric Cannard who are leading research in the areas of non-local consciousness, channeling, exceptional healing, psychic phenomena, survival of consciousness, and more. Board Chair and Interim CEO Claudia Welss will provide context for IONS at 50 and beyond.
We’ll explore the areas of creativity and psychedelic studies, UAPs, conscious AI, and more with IONS science advisors, board members and special guests.
Carrying on the legacy of IONS founder Dr. Edgar Mitchell, whose original mission was to expand knowledge of the nature and potentials of the mind and apply that knowledge to human and planetary advancement, IONS continues to publish highly cited, peer-reviewed findings demonstrating the fundamental nature of consciousness and deliver transformational programs backed by the latest science. Last year our white paper ‘What If Consciousness Is Not An Emergent Property of the Brain? Observational and Empirical Challenges to Materialistic Models,’ rose to the 98th percentile of downloads on the Frontiers In Psychology website.
We are living in unprecedented times. As we continue to push the boundaries of scientific understanding of what it means, or could mean, to be human, we invite you to join us as we celebrate where we’ve been and explore where we’re going over the next 50 years.

Arnaud Delorme, PhD, is a CNRS Research Director in Toulouse, France, and a senior Research Scientist at the University of California, San Diego, and a Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences. He is a long-time Zen meditator, and has taught in India on the neural correlates of conscious experience in a Master’s degree program for the Birla Institute of Technology. He is the author of some 160+ peer-reviewed publications, and is best known for developing the EEG software that is now the most-used in EEG research worldwide.
Garret Yount, PhD, is a Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences. Dr. Yount’s primary interest is bridging molecular neurobiology with aspects of consciousness and extended human capacities. He began his formal studies in consciousness research with a small grant from the Institute of Noetic Sciences in 1995, which allowed him to work with biofield practitioners and spiritual healers in the laboratory. Dr. Yount was among the first scientists to be awarded a Research Project Grant (R01) from the National Institutes of Health to study energy healing. He has spoken nationally and co-authored peer-reviewed papers on the topic of establishing rigorous guidelines for research into biofields and micro-psychokinesis. He is the author of Why Vibes Matter: Understand Your Energy and Learn How to Use it Wisely.
Cédric Cannard, PhD, completed a Bachelors in sport science and a MSc in neuroscience during which he worked brain atrophies (MRI) associated with Schizophrenia with the ISTCT laboratory in Caen, France, and then on brain oscillations (EEG) involved in color vision processing with the CerCo Laboratory in Toulouse, France. He then moved to California to become a research assistant for the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), and in December 2018 received a 3-year grant to work on his PhD in neuroscience under the co-supervision of Drs. Helané Wahbeh (IONS) and Arnaud Delorme (CerCo, France), focusing on well-being, EEG methods, wearable neurotechnologies, consciousness, and psi. In early 2022, Cédric successfully earned his PhD from Paul Sabatier University, CNRS, France, and joined the IONS Science team full-time as a Senior Research Associate.
