Notes of Complexity: A Scientific Theory of Connection, Consciousness and Being

ConnectIONS Live!

Complexity theory provides a unique way of understanding the processes whereby the universe gives rise to living, conscious beings and, indeed, may be considered living and conscious foundationally and its totality.

This talk will move from using complexity to weave together contemporary understandings of biology, chemistry, and physics (including relativity and quantum mechanics) to perspectives on how consciousness and our universe are related.  Insights from contemplative spiritual practices – wherein the mind examines itself – will be included.

Driving with Intuition: Advancing Intuition Research Through Virtual Reality

ConnectIONS Live!

Join us for an insightful free webinar with IONS Senior Research Associate Cédric Cannard, PhD, where we’ll explore the exciting potential of virtual reality (VR) in advancing intuition research.

Despite consistent findings in past intuition research studies, translating these effects into real-world applications has proven challenging due to the limitations of traditional research environments.

In this talk, Cedric will discuss a new study conducted at IONS’ cutting-edge laboratory called “Driving with Intuition”, and share about how you can participate in this groundbreaking research. Using innovative technology to measure brain, heart, and eye activity in a virtual driving environment, the study aims to develop a sensitive and reliable measure of intuition with practical implications.

Noetic Global Gathering – The Vibes of Spaces and Places

IONS Member Event!

Have you ever visited a place and felt a strong positive – or negative – vibe the moment you walked in? If so, you may be experiencing emotional residue, a theory suggesting that thoughts and emotions can imprint subtle energy in the environment — energy that can be sensed by or influence humans.

In our hour together, we’ll lay the foundation of this topic with a look at some of the science behind the theory, hear a fascinating tale of morphic fields experienced at sacred sites in Egypt, break into small groups where you can hear from like-minded noetic explorers, and share a bit about your own experiences and thoughts on the topic.

Noetic Global Gathering – The Vibes of Spaces and Places
Friday, February 23rd
11:00am – 12:00pm PST

GUEST SPEAKER

Arnaud Delorme, PhD

Arnaud Delorme, PhD, has been studying human consciousness for the last 20 years. He is a scientist at IONS, a CNRS principal investigator in Toulouse, France, and a tenured research scientist at the University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Delorme has a keen interest in the scientific study of consciousness and spirituality. He is a long-time Zen meditator. He studies brain dynamical changes underlying extraordinary states of consciousness, including meditation, psycho-active agents, and mediumship.  The author of over 160 publications, Delorme’s work on mediumship is of particular interest — even with the mainstream. His paper on evidential mediumship and the brain activity of mediums is among the top 1% of articles viewed on the Research Gate platform.

Backed by research that spans a decade, Delorme has made a compelling argument that the topic of mediumship is worthy of scientific investigation.

Dr. Delorme is also investigating the means by which technology, in particular multi-channel neurofeedback, could be used to assist meditation practice.

The Implications of the Reality of ETs on Earth

ConnectIONS Live!

In this ConnectIONS Live Webinar, we’ll hear from Dr. Jim Garrison. In recent months, the US Congress passed the UAP Records Collection Amendment to the 2024 National Defense Authorization Act mandating that all US Government agencies and contracting corporations turn over all the evidence they have gathered concerning UFOs — now called Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) — to the National Archives for dissemination to the public. According to Garrison, the world will now be provided evidence that we are not alone, that Extraterrestrials exist, that they have been on Planet Earth for some time, that there has been contact and communication, and that there are retrieved alien spacecraft and alien bodies to prove it.

Join us to learn more about this extraordinary topic. Humanity is entering its ET moment. A whole new era of human history is beginning.

Why Our Minds Wander: Understand the Science and Learn How to Focus Your Thoughts

ConnectIONS Live!

In this ConnectIONS Live Webinar, we’ll hear from IONS Scientist Arnaud Delorme, PhD, whose research on how and why our brains focus, is outlined in his new book Why Our Minds Wander: Understand the Science and Learn How to Focus Your Thoughts. We’ve all had the experience of losing focus on one thing and realizing we’re daydreaming, or that our minds have wandered to focus on something else entirely. Why does this happen?

We see the world through the lens of our attention, so why do we sometimes have such little control over that lens? How does our brain decide to focus on one thing over another and why, from an evolutionary standpoint, does this help us survive? We’ll hear more about this in the conversation as Arnaud discusses new research that demonstrates daydreaming is not a single state of mind, but rather has very different states governed by different neurological pathways.

Join us as we ask Arnaud about the science and theory behind why we daydream, examining its potential purpose and learning how to tame our ‘monkey minds’ with techniques to help us hone our attention, improve our mood and foster a greater creative capacity.
