After: A Doctor Explores What Near-Death Experiences Reveal About Life and Beyond

ConnectIONS Live!

What Do Near-Death Experiences Suggest About Life, Death, and Beyond?

Near-death experiences (NDEs) are profound experiences that frequently occur on the threshold of death. They include phenomena that are difficult if not impossible to reconcile with a materialistic view of the mind, such as enhanced thinking and perceptions while the brain is severely impaired, accurate perceptions from outside the physical body, and encounters with deceased persons not known to have died. Dr. Bruce Greyson has been studying NDEs for almost half a century. In this presentation, he shares some of his most important findings on the nature of life and death, illustrating his research data with captivating examples.

Dr. Greyson will discuss challenges in researching NDEs, establishing the reality of NDEs, the most common features of the experience, various models that have been proposed to explain NDEs, and the dramatic transformations that usually follow NDEs. Finally, he will discuss the implications of NDEs for our understanding of mind and brain, for our understanding of the possibility of post-mortem survival, and for our understanding of the relationship between biological and spiritual events and what that implies about what it means to be human.

The Noetic SignatureTM Revealed

ConnectIONS Live!

At IONS we have a Guiding Hypothesis:
All things are interconnected, and embodying that awareness reveals information and energy not limited by space and time, and can profoundly amplify transformation, innovation, and well-being.

The question, however, is HOW do different people access and receive this information? The answer to this question is what our Director of Research Dr. Helané Wahbeh calls our Noetic Signature™.

After surveying more than 500 people in Phase II of the three-phase Noetic Signature™ Inventory study exploring this phenomenon, Dr. Wahbeh and her team have developed an inventory of 11 content factors that make up the Noetic Signature. The list includes a full range of noetic experiences, from lucid dreams to telepathy to channeling.

The Experimenter Effect

ConnectIONS Live!

How can we accurately test for telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, and psychokinesis (mind over matter)?

One stumbling block is the possibility that experimenters and subjects are unconsciously influenced to find what they expect to find — and not what’s really happening. If this is true, it would be very hard to replicate experiments and get the same results. Join IONS Scientist, Dr. Arnaud Delorme, on Friday, April 2nd to hear about a “time-reversed” experiment that offers an innovative approach to the role of beliefs in psi.

Discover how this research has helped to validate precognition — and how his findings will help make it easier to replicate psi experiments going forward!

Manifesting: Science Sheds Light on Intention in the Material World

ConnectIONS Live!

Manifesting — bringing about positive outcomes through thought or belief — is making news these days. Though these mental “magical” practices have been around for eons, recently even the New York Times has dipped its toes into esoteric waters, with an article on the increased interest from millennials in the law of attraction and power of positive thinking.

While most of the reports speak to the popularity of such practices, referring to anecdotal reports from practitioners who often speak of “universal laws,” these articles share little to nothing on what we know from a scientific perspective. How much influence do our thoughts really have on our experience of the material world?

Noetic Perspectives of Cancer

ConnectIONS Live!

Join IONS Director of Research Helané Wahbeh, IONS Scientist Garret Yount, and IONS Fellow Joshua Weiss as we explore noetic perspectives of cancer. Western medicine has made great progress with cancer prevention and treatment. However, the prognosis for many cancers is still very poor. Without diminishing our current medical model’s success, how can we expand our view of health and healing to include holistic approaches and a noetic perspective? Dr. Garret Yount will discuss his previous research on cancer, including studies involving energy medicine practitioners. Dr. Joshua Weiss will share about the IONS Spontaneous Remission Bibliography project. Dr. Helané Wahbeh will share the results of a recently published paper on the emotional and psychological predictors of women with breast cancer.

The Thriving Life Paradigm

ConnectIONS Live!

We are delighted to welcome Diné (Navajo) activist, artist, writer and ceremonial leader, Pat McCabe, to our ConnectIONS Live Series when we’ll explore what a paradigm for thriving life could look like. According to Indigenous wisdom, every single member of the Sacred Hoop of Life has a perfect design to uphold its part of the Hoop — including humanity. As cracks in foundational beliefs begin to appear, as imposed knowledge gives way to inner feeling, inner knowing, and inner perceiving, we are now in a perfect position to reconsider this honor we have been gifted, this place humanity has in the circle.

We are in a perfect position to reconsider, in all new ways, aspects of our perfect design for thriving life. What does it mean to have come here as masculine? What does it mean to have come here as feminine? Who are we? And how are we all related? Please join us on Friday, March 5th as we explore these rising opportunities from an indigenous perspective.

Speaker

Pat McCabePat McCabe (Weyakpa Najin Win, Woman Stands Shining) is a Diné (Navajo) mother, grandmother, activist, artist, writer, ceremonial leader, and international speaker. She is a voice for global peace, and her paintings are created as tools for individual, earth, and global healing. She draws upon the Indigenous sciences of Thriving Life to reframe questions about sustainability and balance, and she is devoted to supporting the next generations — Women’s Nation and Men’s Nation — in being functional members of the “Hoop of Life” and upholding the honor of being human. Her primary work at the moment is:

  • The reconciliation between the masculine and feminine, Men’s Nation and Women’s Nation
  • Remembering, recreating, or creating a new a narrative for the Sacred Masculine
  • Addressing the Archetypal Wounding that occurred in our misunderstanding and abuse of technology in prayer, ceremony, and science
