Understanding the Global Consciousness Project : How a classic psi
effect became misconstrued as evidence for global consciousness

This seminar (in French) will trace the evolution of our understanding of the remarkable psi effect produced by the Global Consciousness Project. The GCP is one of the longest running and most robust experimental efforts in psi research. Yet the result – a hugely significant anomalous deviation in data recorded from a global network
of random number generators – has been misunderstood as supporting the Project’s motivating hypothesis of global consciousness.
During this seminar, we will see that analyses drawn from the fields of quantum entanglement and causal determination reveal a surprising story: the GCP effect is not compatible with the its founding hypothesis;
rather, the data show that the effect is consistent with previous research on PK effects with random number generators. The take-away is that the GCP, while not providing evidence for a global consciousness, has greatly sharpened our characterization of psi effects.
