Since we first sketched spiritual symbols on cave walls, humans have used the visual arts as a pathway to noetic realms. As our ancestors knew, the powerful alchemy of image and imagination brings us to a deep connection with non-material reality, and allows us to access information and energy not bounded by space and time.
Art as a Pathway to the Noetic: Invoking the Visual
Friday, November 5, 2021
Join us as we converse with three amazing people who use the creative forces of the visual arts to explore the non-visible. They’ll share how engaging with art opens them to intuitive wisdom that informs their day-to-day experiences, helping to guide and inform as they navigate the arc of their lives.
Dana Lynne Andersen is a multimedia artist, writer, playwright and teacher who has taught and exhibited on three continents. With a Masters Degree in Consciousness Studies from John F. Kennedy University she uses art as a catalyst for seeding evolutionary ideas, showing in venues such as the California Institute of Integral Studies and the IONS (where she was artist in residence). Her artwork has been featured on the covers of books and journals internationally, and her visionary thinking has been explored in newspapers, radio and television.
Working in photography and mixed media, Aranka Israni describes her practice as “grounded in alchemical and imaginal processes that explore energy in transition from one expression to another.” Aranka received her Masters from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and is currently working on her PhD in Depth Psychology with an emphasis in Jungian and Archetypal Studies at Pacifica Graduate Institute. Aranka was the host of the “Art, Consciousness & the Muse” panel at the 2019 IONS Conference.
Lisa M. French is the Executive Director of Development at the Institute of Noetic Sciences. She is also a long-time intuitive painter and most recently studied at the Academy of Art, Creativity and Consciousness, located in Assisi, Italy where she earned a certificate in Transformative Arts. Lisa believes we are all born to live as creative beings however, many of us have been disconnected from this awareness. It is one of her greatest passions to help people reconnect to their innate gifts of creative expression.
Kerstin Sjoquist is the Director of Experience & Engagement at the Institute of Noetic Sciences. A long-time IONS member, a series of synchronous and magical events led Kerstin to a staff position at the Institute in 2014, where she now spends her days in support of the creation of IONS programmatic offerings to benefit those who seek a deeper engagement with potential and fulfillment. Prior to joining IONS, Kerstin was the founder and CEO of Consciousness Arts, Inc., specializing in psycho-spiritual products, classes, and services to assist people in expanding and enhancing their lives.
