David Lorimer, Programme Director of the Scientific and Medical Network, joined us on March 4th to speak on the poignant topic of “Towards a Culture of Love and Wisdom” at a time when war and militarism are once again in the forefront of the news. However, many visionary philosophers and mystics have indicated that our evolutionary trajectory is towards global spiritual awakening represented by a culture of love and wisdom. David’s sense is that this is happening at the same time as divisions are increasing and that the situation requires us to be anchored in our deep center of stillness within, while also engaging in spiritual activism to support the realization of our ideals.
This talk draws on the work of historian Arnold Toynbee, sociologist Pitirim Sorokin, and Bulgarian sage Beinsa Douno (Peter Deunov) in articulating a compass direction for our turbulent times focused around Douno’s five principles of Love, Wisdom, Truth, Justice, and Goodness while affirming the spiritual depth of the human.
