Nurses’ Global Coherence 2020

April 24, 2020
Nina Fry, Research Team

IONS is pleased to announce that we are collaborating with other research institutes to create global coherence events and track the effects of these events on global consciousness. We invite you to participate in Nurses’ Global Coherence 2020, which will occur on May 12, 2020 at 12:00 Noon (your local time), around the world and across all time zones. This is a collaborative project between HeartMath, the Global Consciousness Project and IONS.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has designated 2020 as the ‘Year of the Nurse & the Midwife’ — also to commemorate Florence Nightingale’s 200th Birthday. By honoring the heart of humanity and the caregiver in all of us, it honors all of those who have dedicated their lives to caring for us in times of need. This inspired ‘Global Coherence’ event will celebrate our shared service to humanity.

In the 1870s, Nightingale wrote that she believed nursing would be entirely different in 150 years (now). She had a vision of the nursing profession progressing and evolving. We believe she would recognize that the current education, certification and professionalism of nursing today is rooted in the foundation that she laid. Florence Nightingale definitely set the course and the standards that are now followed.

In this global coherence intention event, participants will join others around the world in meditation. On or before May 12, 2020, you are welcome to download HeartMath’s free Global Coherence App (or go to the Apple App Store or Google Play and search ‘Global Coherence’). This app will allow you to see all the people participating and see shifts in heart data in real time as we join in meditation. You can also read the meditation text (below) at noon without downloading the app.

Join us as people around the world connect with this heart-centered meditation of compassion and caring. During the event, Roger Nelson, PhD, Director of the Global Consciousness Project and IONS Research Fellow, will be tracking random number generator data around the world before, during, and after the meditation period.

Below is the meditation that we will all participate in together. If you are not accessing the app, please read this out loud or to yourself at noon your local time on May 12th:

In this time of need, let us honor the heart of humanity and global caring. On Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday, May 12th, during the 2020 Year of the Nurse and the Midwife… we, the nurses, midwives, and concerned citizens of our global family share a vision of universal health care and a healthy world for all…

Now, let us come together, with one heart, one mind and one world… to create a shared future of compassion and love.

Bring your attention to your heart…imagine your breath flowing in and out of your heart. Breathing a little deeper…experience a feeling of calm, compassion, love and caring… and breathe those feelings through the heart area…

Gently radiate these feelings for health and well-being to ourselves, our families, our communities and our world.

We look forward to having you join us for this global coherence intention event on May 12, 2020 at 12:00 noon your local time to celebrate nurses, midwives, and the caregiver in all of us and we are excited to learn the results of this global experience!
