Earth Day first began back in 1970 to acknowledge the ongoing trend of deterioration of the environment in the United States. Inefficient automobiles were consuming massive amounts of fossil fuels. Air pollution was becoming synonymous with having a thriving industry. It was clear that something needed to be done to take care of our planet. The holiday was established as a way of inspiring people to take action and protest against the continued deterioration of our land, water, and air. Now more than ever, it remains essential to nurture and tend to our shared home.
Our planet is full of wonders, beauty, and wisdom. As we celebrate Earth Day it’s important to remember the crucial work being done at IONS to preserve Earth’s wonders by demonstrating the interconnectedness between all things, including human consciousness and our natural environment. On Earth Day, we celebrate our incredible planet and all that it has given us.
Self-care has gone global
We share a deep interconnection with one another. This extends not only to the people around us but to the whole planet. When you take care of yourself, you can show up more for others and do your part in helping the world. It’s mutually beneficial to take care of yourself and the planet. Here are a few ways you can experience Earth Day through self-care:
- Cook a plant-based meal
- Forest Bathing
- Tend to a garden
- Ride a bike instead of driving
- Hike through nature on your own or with friends
By experiencing Earth Day this way and helping others to do the same, we can obtain a much greater appreciation for how beautiful our world is. It makes the hard work that goes into protecting it all the more worthwhile. Plus, since everything is energy, your vibration penetrates the fields of those around you, near and far. Our self-care is an extension of our planetary care.
Facing tough truths
The opposite also holds true – when we are hurt, so is the planet. The recent pandemic showed us how there’s no separation. Viruses don’t need visas to cross national borders, and one country’s problems are everyone’s problem in our global village.
Our current times may feel turbulent. But consciousness is infinite, and since we have the skills to create all our problems, we inevitably have the skills to solve them, too. To do so, we need to come together. We need unity over duality. Oneness over loneliness.

You can count on IONS to share our discoveries with you as we continue to learn more and more each day about the depths of our interconnections. Meanwhile, Earth Day is a great reminder to celebrate and explore the world we are in awe of.
Happy Earth Day!
