IONS Circle members are a select group of noetic visionaries. They recognize the value of our cutting-edge research helping to give a truer version of reality than conventional science currently promotes.
As our most committed supporters, Circle members were invited to two exciting events in May. They were the first to learn of exciting developments at IONS, including two new books and more.
Why Vibes Matter
At the first event in May, IONS Scientist Garret Yount, PhD, introduced his new book, Why Vibes Matter, and shared the insider scoop before it’s published in July. Garret explained what physical processes can lead us to experience a ‘vibe’ or shift in energy. He reviewed the research and explained the science behind our reactions.
Circle members were invited to ask Garret questions and learn how to harness the power of vibes to help us heal and grow.
ABOUT THE BOOK
Why Vibes Matter provides practical tools and techniques to help you attune to your own vibes and learn how to influence them in the wisest way possible.
We’ve all had ‘that’ feeling: when our mood suddenly changes or we sense an ‘atmosphere’ on entering a room. There is a distinct quality that connects these experiences – it’s a shift in how we sense a person or a place, often referred to as a ‘vibe’.
Vibes matter because they have the power to change the way we feel and behave.
Garret Yount, PhD has been researching the science of ‘energy vibes’ for over 20 years. In Why Vibes Matter he explains what can lead us to experience a ‘vibe’ or a shift in energy and how to harness their power. To pre-order this exciting new book, click here.
Claudia Welss shares a powerful update
On May 25, 2023, IONS Board Chairman and Interim CEO Claudia Welss provided an engaging and informative CEO update within the context of From Outer Space to Inner Space, the 2022 republication of IONS founder Edgar Mitchell’s The Way of the Explorer. Using quotes from Edgar that relate to IONS mission and the early days of the organization, Claudia demonstrated how IONS is clearly living our legacy through our endeavors today. She shared updates on new projects and strategies, including information on our new endowment, exciting research studies and scientific collaborations, plus plans for expanding our global reach.
Beginning with the books’ Acknowledgements Page, what Claudia described as “a roll call of the pioneering souls whose faith in Edgar’s vision helped establish IONS,” she continued, “Ed’s description of the early years of IONS also applies to these individuals: ‘extraordinary for their audacity, and for their coordination of minds and skills.’” The list included Henry and Zoe Rolfs, Paul Temple, Richard Davis and John White, and IONS Life Directors Diane Temple, Judith Skutch Whitson, Tamas Makray and Ian and Victoria Watson.
Claudia continued by sharing the progress made across IONS’ current strategic pillars, starting with Pillar 5, with this quote of Edgar’s from the book: ”..While funding would always be a problem, with faith and perseverance, the means would always come together so that we could take the next step.” Acknowledging the important role of “noetic miracles” in the form of unexpected gifts that have helped IONS maintain 50 years of continuous operations, she noted that IONS is now even more reliant on annual donor contributions to balance the budget due to the loss of income from EarthRise. “It’s the continued ‘faith and perseverance’ of the IONS community — members, board and staff — that make financial sustainability possible. After an extended period of experimentation as a virtual organization, we’ve finally achieved a new level of fiscal responsibility. And for the first time in history, IONS also has a rock-solid foundation in the form of an endowment and healthy cash reserves to secure the noetic sciences for upcoming generations, and to invest in world-shifting initiatives. All in all, we’re making room for a very exciting future for IONS.”
For updates on science Pillars 1 and 2, Claudia invoked this quote: “These [extended human capacities] ..are natural, not supernatural .. and well-within the domain of scientific inquiry, and when validated, the impact on science will be revolutionary.” For Experience and Engagement Pillars 3 and 4: “Edgar speaks directly to this need when he mentions in the book an important insight from Plato’s ‘Parable of the Cave — When we have limited information, we have limiting beliefs about reality.’”
Claudia ended with an empowering quote from former IONS President, Willis Harman: “No economic, political or military power can compare with the power of a change of mind. By deliberately changing our images of reality, we’re changing the world.”
IONS Chief Scientist Dean Radin, who wrote a new afterword for the book, reflected on his contribution and together they answered several insightful and thought-provoking questions from Circle members.
ABOUT THE BOOK
From Outer Space to Inner Space traces two remarkable journeys―one through space and one through the mind. Together they fundamentally alter the way we understand the miracle and mystery of being, and ultimately reveal humankind’s role in its own destiny.
In addition to including a new afterword by Dean, this edition includes a new foreword by Avi Loeb, and a postscript chapter by the author. To order this new edition of Edgar Mitchell’s book, click here.
