In the August 28, 2019, episode of “New Thinking Allowed with Jeffrey Mishlove,” IONS Research Director Helané Wahbeh discusses her personal experiences of channeling and how they relate to the scientific research she’s doing today.

In the interview, she describes how, as a child, she was exposed to the channeling practiced by her grandmother and uncle. Dr. Wahbeh defines channeling very broadly to include a wide range of experiences from intuition, to ESP, to trance mediumship. She notes that the Institute of Noetic Sciences is engaged in a program of channeling research that includes both physiological and psychological studies. One of the IONS findings is that channelers, almost universally, report that the experience has been positive for themselves. Another finding is that over 80% of the population have had an experience that fits the broad definition of channeling.

New Thinking Allowed host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in “parapsychology” ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980).
