Exploring What’s Possible When We Come Together in the Heart

April 17, 2020
Claudia Welss, IONS Board Chairman

Our world is in-between stories. Many of us support the work of IONS because we long to see science validate the story of a deeply interconnected reality, and to learn how it can help us lead better lives and create a world that works for all. The Global Coherence Pulse  is a collaborative effort to help science tell this story, while also providing people with the practical support of an ongoing virtual community of practice.

On Saturday, HeartMath Institute’s Research Director and my colleague at HeartMath’s Global Coherence Initiative (GCI), Rollin McCraty, PhD, will discuss what “coherence” means and how it reflects harmony and order at personal, social, and global levels. Dr. McCraty will briefly share why GCI suggests planetary magnetic fields provide a mechanism that interconnects and non-locally distributes information to all living beings on Earth. We’ll then “pulse” the field with our collective heart energy, seeing it soften the impact of the Coronavirus and other personal and planetary stressors, while holding a vision of deeper interconnectedness and more harmonious cooperation for the good of the whole.

In collaboration with partner organizations like the Resonance Science Foundation, 1440 Multiversity, and UNIFY, we’ll be supporting our own mental, emotional and physical wellbeing while “feeding” the collective field. Truly, we may discover how deeply these are connected — the citizen scientists among us can choose to take active part in a coordinated, results-oriented scientific experiment that can illuminate the connection between the personal and the planetary, expanding our understanding of reality in ways that elevate modern culture.

IONS is one of the earliest pioneers to share the very real personal benefits of meditation with the world, helping meditation enter the mainstream. Many collaborative efforts have been made over the years to study real-world effects of mass meditations, some with encouraging results. There’s still much to learn, and we’re hopeful the Global Coherence Pulse — with your participation — can help create conditions under which evidence of the effects of our meditations can be observed on global magnetometer and random number generator (RNG) networks.

No special knowledge or equipment is required to participate until and unless you decide to take part in the scientific research. Those details are available on the website.

There’s another great opportunity for contributing to personal and collective health that we’re participating in, along with Club of Budapest, Theosophical Society International, Global Purpose Movement, and others — a daily global “rolling” (synchronized in your local time zone) mediation, launched on April 16, 2020. See details at Global Silent Five Minutes.

I feel great gratitude for our connection, and compassion for whatever challenges you may personally be facing during this trying time for the whole human family.

About the Author

Claudia WelssClaudia Welss is Chairman of the IONS Board of Directors and the board Science Committee. She’s also founding Chair of Invest in Yourself at Nexus Global Youth Summit and Network, bridging practical consciousness research with philanthropy, impact investing, activism, and social innovation. As a funder and citizen scientist, Claudia advises experimental projects with the potential to accelerate large-scale change, like World Future Coin, HeartMath’s Global Coherence Initiative, and Flow Genome Project. Previously, she pioneered the concept of collaboration labs by founding NextNow Collaboratory, once described by the director of MIT’s Center for Collective Intelligence as a “new kind of collective intelligence.” Claudia’s collaboration with IONS started when President Willis Harman invited her to join a five-year “Peace-building Through Business” inquiry at Fetzer Institute while she was director of the University of California, Berkeley Haas School‘s center for designing and delivering strategic learning programs for corporations while initiating social responsibility and sustainability curriculum. This experience led her to explore consciousness as the most powerful leverage point for inspiring regenerative culture.
