Abstract
We have evaluated English-speaking medium/trance channeler certification programs. Certifications have been descriptively outlined, and a comprehensive scoring matrix has emerged for unbiased certification comparisons. Six certifications have met the study inclusion criteria. Final scoring has been intended to measure the extent to which certification status ensures practitioner competence and public safety through five core elements: skills assessment, protocol transparency, grief training, ethics training, and personal interviews. There have been vast differences in the quality of descriptive data available for certifications. Future work is needed to standardize medium/trance channeler certifications to ensure public protection, most notably grief training, ethics training, and transparency of skills assessment protocols.
