ConnectIONS Live!
Have you ever had a car accident or a fall in which seconds seemed to expand into minutes? Perhaps you’ve experienced a radical slowing of time during meditation, under the influence of psychedelics, while playing sport, or during a near-death experience. Dr. Steve Taylor has spent many years collecting and analyzing reports of such ‘time expansion’ and ‘time cessation’ experiences.
In this webinar – based on his new book Time Expansion Experiences: The Psychology of Time Perception and the Illusion of Linear Time – Steve will explain how and why such experiences arise in altered states of consciousness, and what they may tell us about the nature of human consciousness, and of reality itself. He will also discuss whether it’s possible to consciously induce time expansion, and will lead a meditation on this theme.
Testimonials about Time Expansion Experiences
“Steve Taylor’s Time Expansion Experiences is a meticulously researched exploration of the common but poorly understood experience of time seeming to expand in extreme circumstances. Taylor explores what these experiences mean not just for the neuropsychology of our perception of time, but for the very nature of time itself and for the physics of the universe. Few books this easy to read will blow your mind as this one does.”
– Bruce Greyson, M.D
“If you don’t have time right now to read this book, that’s okay, because as Dr. Steve Taylor discusses in detail, we know that our minds construct the flow of time, so you actually have all the time in the world. But when you do find (or construct) some free time, I highly recommend that you use it to read this well researched and fascinating work.”
