This ConnectIONS Live conversation will introduce Death Is Not the End, a new international initiative seeking to challenge the materialist assumption that consciousness simply ceases at death and to create greater openness around conversations about death and dying.
Drawing from both scientific research and spiritual traditions, the panel will explore phenomena that raise intriguing questions about the nature and possible continuity of consciousness, including near-death experiences, shared-death experiences, after-death communications, terminal lucidity, mediumship, and reincarnation.
Together, the speakers will consider what emerging research can and cannot tell us about consciousness at the threshold of death, why these experiences deserve serious inquiry, and how engaging more openly with death might transform the way we understand life itself.

PRESENTERS
William J. Peters is the founder of the Shared Crossing Project, principal investigator of the Shared Crossing Research Initiative, and a psychotherapist at the Family Therapy Institute. Recognized as a global leader in the field of shared death studies, his research team has collected and analyzed over 400 shared death experience (SDE) accounts creating the world’s largest library of SDEs. Peters’ work has been published widely and featured in CNN among other media outlets. He is the author of At Heaven’s Door: What Shared Journeys to the Afterlife Teach about Dying Well and Living Better, the first researched based book on the shared death experience. Felicity Warner is the founder of Soul Midwives a global community offering and teaching holistic and spiritual care for the dying she also runs the UK based Soul Midwive’s School( www.soulmidwives.co.uk)
She is the author of A Safe Journey Home, The Soul Midwive’s Handbook and Sacred Oils and is an exchange fellow of the University of Winchester. A popular lecturer and speaker for many organisations including Alternatives, Scientific and Medical Network and the Shift Network, her special interests include spirituality at end of life and threshold consciousness. She is a member of the Consciousness Educator’s Network and co founder of the international project and website Death is Not the End (deathisnotend.com).
Marjorie Woollacott is a professor and member of the Institute of Neuroscience at the University of Oregon. Woollacott has received over 7.2 million dollars in research funding for her research in rehabilitation medicine, meditation, spiritual awakening and end-of-life experiences. She has published over 200 scientific articles and written or edited nine books, including Infinite Awareness: The Awakening of a Scientific Mind (receiving 8 book awards) and Spiritual Awakenings: Scientists and Academics Describe Their Experiences. She is past chair of the Dept. of Human Physiology of the U. of Oregon, President of the Academy for the Advancement of Post-Materialist Sciences, on the Science Committee of the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), Co-Director of the Galileo Commission and Research Director for the International Association of Near-Death Studies. She has given workshops on the nature of consciousness and taught meditation for many years.
David Lorimer is a writer, lecturer, poet, and editor who is a Founder of Character Education Scotland, Programme Director of the Scientific and Medical Network, and former President of Wrekin Trust and the Swedenborg Society. He has also been editor of Paradigm Explorer since 1986 and completed his 100th issue in 2019. He is the author and editor of over a dozen books, including Survival? Death as Transition, Resonant Mind (originally Whole in One), The Spirit of Science, Thinking Beyond the Brain, and Radical Prince about the ideas and work of the Prince of Wales. He is the originator of the Inspiring Purpose Values Poster Programmes, which has reached over 350,000 young people.
