We are thrilled to share the premiere of “Beyond the Brain”, a new international documentary series from our esteemed partner and funder, the BIAL Foundation, in collaboration with RTP, Portugal’s public television network.
Premiering globally on May 12, “Beyond the Brain” dives into one of the most profound scientific frontiers of our time: the nature of consciousness. Across 16 compelling episodes, the series explores the mysteries of the human mind and its many dimensions—offering a rare, in-depth look at how science is beginning to embrace topics once considered taboo.
Exploring Telepathy, Mediumship, Channeling, Near-Death Experiences & More
Each 30-minute episode features the voices of 50 scientists and experts from leading institutions around the world, including Dean Radin, Helané Wahbeh, and the IONS science team. Topics covered include telepathy, mediumship, channeling, near-death experiences, past-life memories, and more. The inaugural episode, Science and Spirituality, airs on May 12 at approximately 11:00 PM (GMT+1) on RTP1, with new episodes released every Monday.
This groundbreaking series brings visibility and legitimacy to important research areas long underexplored in mainstream discourse—an effort that aligns deeply with the mission of both IONS and the BIAL Foundation.
A Banner Year for Consciousness in Film
At IONS, we’ve had an especially active year on the documentary front. Our scientists and work are currently being featured in several film projects exploring nonlocal consciousness, the nature of reality, and the intersection of science and spirituality. The growing interest in these subjects is a welcome sign of the times—and we’re honored to be walking alongside organizations like the BIAL Foundation who are advancing this public dialogue with such care and thoughtfulness.
