This fall, IONS is heading out into the world.
We are proud to sponsor two extraordinary, mission-aligned gatherings this October: The Science of Consciousness in San Diego and Mission:60s in New York City. At both events, we are creating special, member-exclusive gatherings so our community can connect in person, spend time with IONS scientists and leaders, and explore life’s big questions together.
The Science of Consciousness
San Diego, CA | Oct 11–16
IONS is honored to support The Science of Consciousness, one of the world’s leading interdisciplinary conferences exploring the nature of consciousness. Among this year’s remarkable roster, IONS scientists play a defining role, including Arnaud Delorme serving as Conference Chair alongside IONS President Thomas Brophy as Co-Chair.
The program spans the full landscape of consciousness science, including:
- The “hard problem” of consciousness: panpsychism, illusionism, integrated information theory, and more
- Quantum biology and consciousness at the smallest scales
- Where sentience begins and ends, across living, and perhaps non-living, systems
A full cohort from the IONS community will be in attendance, including IONS scientists, leaders, staff, and members. The conference program features presentations from IONS researchers, along with an interactive IONS booth open throughout the week.
Mission:60s
New York City | Oct 23–25
After TSC, IONS will head to New York City for Mission:60s, an immersive gathering celebrating humanity’s exploration of space and the possibilities that lie beyond our known horizons. Bridging the optimism, design and ambition of the Apollo era to space exploration today, IONS will be there to help build a bridge between inner and outer space.
Hosted inside the iconic TWA Hotel at JFK Airport, this immersive gathering is designed to be imaginative and fun, while engaging with real science and real vision. IONS Board members, leadership, and speakers—including Board Chair Claudia Welss and President Thomas Brophy—will be in attendance that weekend celebrating humanity’s place in the universe.
