Our Global Gatherings for Members (GGMs) are sanctuaries for deep connection, where we move beyond lecture and into conversation. For many of our Members, this is a much-needed place to explore consciousness, intuition, and interconnection with people who genuinely understand these experiences.

At the GGMs, you aren’t just an observer. You are a vital part of a global collective exploring what it means to be fully human. Whether we are discussing psi phenomena, healing, or interconnection, these gatherings offer a rare opportunity to share your experience, hear the wisdom of others, and find the community you’ve been looking for.

How it Works: Global Gatherings vs. ConnectIONS Live

  • ConnectIONS Live is our free public webinar series, featuring guest speakers and researchers exploring the science of consciousness, and viewers participate via chat.
  • Global Gatherings are something different entirely. There are no guest speakers. The conversation is the program, and you are an essential part of it. IONS staff provide a brief context-setting, then the time belongs to the Members for connection — utilizing their mics and webcams as they see fit.

Think of ConnectIONS Live as a talk you attend; think of Global Gatherings as a discussion you’re part of.

What to Expect (and Our Guidelines)

To maintain a safe, high-quality environment for all seekers, we ask that you join us with the following guidelines in mind.

A Private, Unrecorded Space

These gatherings are intentionally intimate. Unlike our webinars, they are not recorded, and we ask that members refrain from using AI assistants, transcription bots, or note-taking tools, so everyone may speak freely. (If a bot joins by accident, our staff will remove it.) IONS does use a transcription tool during the brief presentation portion of the session, but this tool is never present in the breakout rooms, where your personal conversations remain private. This tool is used for internal IONS purposes only.

Prioritize Presence

As mentioned above, these sessions are designed to be interactive, much like an in-person gathering. We invite you to share from your own experience rather than debate or advise, and to give others the same space. Cameras are encouraged but entirely optional. If yours is off, we invite you to leave your microphone on and participate verbally; even a brief introduction goes a long way toward building a connection.

Small-Group "Harvesting"

You will spend a significant portion of the session in breakout rooms of 3-4 people. We then return to the full group to “harvest” the collective wisdom, gathering insights and “Aha!” moments from those private conversations to share with everyone.

The 30-Minute Bonus

Our formal program lasts 60 minutes. However, we keep the room open for an additional 30 minutes of free-form community time for anyone who wishes to stay and continue the conversation.

Participate as You Are Comfortable

These GGM sessions are designed to be interactive, more like an in-person conversation than a lecture. We use the Zoom “meeting” platform, and video cameras are encouraged but optional. We recognize that bandwidth, privacy, and personal comfort are all valid reasons to keep yours off if you prefer.

That said, it helps to understand what the experience is like for others in your breakout group. When someone’s camera is off, and they are silent, for others in the conversation it can feel a little like speaking into a void. This can make it harder for everyone to connect in a meaningful way. If your camera is off, we warmly encourage you to leave your microphone on and introduce yourself verbally when your group begins. A name and a hello go a long way.

If you prefer to simply observe without participating, you’re welcome to decline the breakout invitation and remain in the main room – though it’s worth knowing that discussion and connection are the heart of these gatherings.

How to Join the Gatherings

Global Gatherings are a signature offering of IONS Membership, and are held approximately 10 times a year, typically on the last Friday of the month at 11am PT, though our schedule is subject to change.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not at all! Members come from many different backgrounds and levels of noetic experience. They are scientists, artists, teachers, retirees, lifelong seekers, and people who only recently discovered IONS. The only prerequisite is curiosity.

The facilitator briefly introduces the month’s theme, grounding the topic in IONS research and broader ideas, and then the group moves into small breakout conversations of 3-4 people. Afterward, everyone reconvenes and shares insights from those discussions. The formal program runs 60 minutes, followed by 30 minutes of optional open conversation for anyone who wants to stay.

The conversations in these gatherings are often personal. Members share experiences they don’t discuss elsewhere. Recording would change that dynamic, so we’ve chosen to prioritize privacy and intimacy.

You can decline the breakout invitation and remain in the main room, though there will be no conversation or programming in the main room during the breakouts. The small group breakouts are where most Members say the magic of the GGM sessions happens, so we encourage everyone to give them a try. You can leave your breakout room at any time.

ConnectIONS Live is a free public webinar featuring guest speakers. Global Gatherings are Members-only, have no guest speakers, and are built entirely around conversation between Members. Think of ConnectIONS Live as a talk you attend; think of Global Gatherings as a discussion you’re part of.

For privacy purposes, IONS does not share a formal Member Directory. However, the chat function during the session is a good way to exchange contact information with someone you’d like to stay in touch with.

If you’re a current Member, watch your inbox – a private invitation goes out approximately 10 days, and then again at 2 days, before each gathering. If you’re not yet a Member, or your annual membership has lapsed, joining is the first step!
