Jake Daigle and Christine Falcon are Resident Caretakers of EarthRise. They live on campus with Christine’s daughter, Giuliana, and consider it a great privilege to watch over the retreat center on evenings and weekends and serve the people who visit.
In addition to his caretaker responsibilities, Jake Daigle tends the beautiful Penny Livingston designed permaculture garden on campus and has introduced two colonies of bees and nine hens, complete with his handcrafted chicken “tractor.” His plans include increasing organic food production at EarthRise, establishing a mini-farm on the land, and teaching the principles of sustainability and self-sufficiency as part of an educational gardening program. He is completing his certification in Sustainable Agriculture at the College of Marin, and also works at the Indian Valley Organic Farm and Garden as part of the North Bay Conservation Corps. Originally from New Orleans, he enjoys rock climbing, playing music, and cooking food inspired by his Southern roots.
