George Zimmer
George Zimmer is a member of the IONS Board of Directors.
He is Founder, Chairman of the Board, and CEO of The Men's Wearhouse, Inc. George Zimmer opened the first Men's Wearhouse in 1973 in Houston. Since then, Zimmer has led the company through every phase of its growth. Under Zimmer's leadership, the company has become the largest retailer of men's tailored suit and dress casual clothing in the U.S. and Canada with over 650 stores with $1.3 billion in sales. Zimmer personally grew with his company from an initial sales employee of a single store to a broad strategic corporate thinker and visionary. He attributes much of the company's success to integrating his Servant Leadership values into the corporate culture. The company's financial success and corporate values of collective honesty, sincerity, integrity, responsiveness, authenticity, mutual goodwill, and caring for each other have become a primary focus for Zimmer as CEO. One of Zimmer's proudest achievements is the inclusion of Men's Wearhouse on Fortune's "The 100 Best Companies To Work For" list since 1999.
Zimmer is a rare example of a company co-founder, entrepreneur, TV icon and CEO, who has transitioned his company over the years to $1.3 billion in sales and a listing on the New York Stock Exchange. His humanity developed simultaneously with the growth of his business acumen, which together created a Fortune 1000 company with a spiritual corporate culture.
