Moving from abstraction to embodied consciousness
- Speaker
- Robert Duggan
- Host
- Angela Murphy
- Jun 22, 2011

Abstraction may be our Original Sin. And "Consciousness" may be one of our most destructive abstractions. It seems odd to me to discuss consciousness when most individuals whom I encounter do not have an embodied sensory conscious awareness of their own body. Is sensory awareness of the daily phenomena of life the only real consciousness.... and when we are awake to that, we are awake to the whole?
We will explore how each of us has at least five very minor and yet very specific unique physical symptoms that with awareness/consciousness become teachers and guide for how we live fully in life. They constantly call us to retune ourselves to a centered way of being in life.

Psychology of the Future
Lessons from Modern Consciousness Research
- Speaker
- Stanislav Grof, MD, PhD

In the last five decades, psychedelic therapy and other avenues of modern consciousness research have revealed a rich array of “anomalous” phenomena that have undermined some of the most basic assumptions of modern psychiatry, psychology, and psychotherapy concerning consciousness and the human psyche in health and disease. Many of these observations are so radical that they question the basic philosophical assumptions of materialistic science. We will review these remarkable data and explore the most important major revisions that would have to be made in our understanding of consciousness, of the human psyche, and of the nature of reality to respond to these conceptual challenges.

Consciousness and Well Being

Our current medical model treats the human body as if it’s a machine. However, we are finding that the body is not a structure, but a process; an energy field; an information field; and a consciousness field. Our bodies, to a large extent, are created by our consciousness, our souls. The soul is the timeless part of us that was never born and will never die. It is the managing intelligence that creates our body, and in a very literal way. In fact, according to Deepak Chopra, you are not in your body; your body is in you.

Why does consciousness matter? Recognizing that we all participate in the evolution of consciousness makes a tremendous difference to our individual and collective wellbeing. As individuals we know that a positive shift in consciousness contributes to healing body, mind, heart and soul. This shift is also essential for healing relationships and building communities of freedom.
Our individual states of consciousness are continually contributing either positively or negatively to the collective. Our shared responsibility for future generations and the planet calls attention to the race between consciousness and catastrophe and the need to accept our part in optimizing the outcome. This conscious engagement and service in the world provides a foundation for personal happiness. -

Sufism and Rapid Wound Healing
Unsolved Mysteries of Consciousness
- Speaker
- Howard Hall
- Host
- Dean Radin, PhD
- May 25, 2011
- None
We will explore the mysteries of consciousness and Howard Hall’s systematic research of Sufism and rapid wound healing for the past decade. Notions of non local healing have been around in both religious and non religious contexts throughout history, but have become more popular recently with many so called energy based non local healing traditions. Hall’s systematic observations of Sufi rapid wound healing will be explored as a physical manifestation of a robust non local healing with a “higher” consciousness at its core.

Nonlocality and Exceptional Experiences
Genius, Religious Epiphany and the Psychic
- Speaker
- Stephan A Schwartz
- Host
- Dean Radin, PhD
- May 18, 2011

Stephan A. Schwartz will discuss his research into the extraordinary experiences we know as moments of genius, religious epiphany, and psychic insight. Two hundred years of reductive materialism has failed to explain them, but new research has begun to unravel some of the mystery. Schwartz will describe why he thinks these three experiences are in essence the same experience, differentiated only by intention and context, and what science knows about opening your own nonlocal abilities.

Neurotheology
- Speaker
- Andrew Newberg
- Host
- Dean Radin, PhD

Can neurotheology provide a new understanding of the human mind, the human brain, and human consciousness? How can we become better thinkers? How might neurotheology address important moral or theological questions? The principles described will be critical to the scientist, religious or spiritual person, and the general public as this highly important topic, neurotheology, is engaged.

Dr. Bill Bengston has produced the first known full lifespan cures of cancer in experimental animals using healing techniques that he helped to develop. A recounting of his 30 years investigating healing, as well as his clinical experiences, are found in his recent memoir, The Energy Cure, published by Sounds True. A 6 CD audio set entitled Hands on Healing describes the healing techniques in detail. Bill is the president of the Society for Scientific Exploration, an international group of scientists who study anomalies.

Consciousness and Non-Duality
- Guest
- Amit Goswami
- Host
- Cassandra Vieten, PhD
- Apr 20, 2011

Even today, the tendency is to look at consciousness dualistically --- consciousness separate from matter. This position is not compatible with science; so scientists have emphasized material monism/everything is matter philosophy. We will show that this is not compatible with quantum physics. We then develop a fully paradox-free idea of monistic idealism --- everything is consciousness. We will discuss how a science based on this nondual philosophy succeeds as an inclusive science that can deal with all natural phenomena.

The Curious Illusion of Consciousness
- Speaker
- Susan Blackmore
- Host
- Marilyn Schlitz, PhD
- Apr 13, 2011

Most theories of consciousness, Blackmore suggests, try to explain the wrong thing. They may seek some particular brain function, area or process, or hope that the neural correlates of consciousness will reveal what “gives rise to” consciousness. I suggest that consciousness is not that kind of thing. The real question is why we are so deluded and whether we can throw off the illusions of self, consciousness and free will. Susan Blackmore suggests that this is not only possible but essential if we are going to make any progress in understanding consciousness.

Is Consciousness Energy?

What is consciousness? It’s an age-old question that still stretches the limits of science. Is consciousness a form of energy? Christian de Quincey has dedicated a career to exploring this puzzle — philosophy’s “hardest problem,” science’s “final frontier,” and spirituality’s “deepest mystery.” Using the Four Gifts of Knowing, he guides us into this perennial mystery. Join Dr. de Quincey to explore different theories of consciousness, how mind and body are related, and how consciousness can make things happen in the physical world.
