DETAILS
The voice connects us with our true energetic and emotional nature. We will inform and refine the singing voice through yogic and shamanic practices, integrating the rejuvenating power of sound and chanting, gentle yoga and mindfulness. Free from conditioning, the voice soars, listens, receives, and releases healing frequencies and songs—the body lovingly coaxed to release tension and stress, opening the breath to more internal spaciousness, with the ultimate destination being the experience of openness and radiance. Like the shaman that hears the hidden music of the Universe and sings it back through medicine melodies, you will experience the emotional magic that comes from singing the Icaros of the Peruvian Amazon, and learn heart opening songs from the indigenous traditions of India, Tibet, Brazil, and beyond. Through guided yoga movements, trance states, and simple drumming, you will gather a fantastic repertoire of chants to use in your sessions, as well as guidance for developing your spiritual practice of the yoga of the voice. The voice becomes at once music, meditation, and medicine. A whole-istic experience!
Audience: Musicians, spiritual seekers, sound and music healers, music therapists, psychotherapists, yoga teachers, wellness practitioners, and singers.

TESTIMONIALS
"…Her talent makes for music that at times recalls the ‘mystical minimalism’ of modern composers like Arvo Part, at other times ranges from Latin and Indian sonorities, but always feels ambitious… and could probably hold a tough New York club audience spellbound." ~ Jon Spayde, UTNE READER
"Nakkach is a master teacher that brings the discipline of a classicist and the poetic imagination of the indigenous wisdom to her unique approach, which challenge students to sing and create music beyond cultural boundaries, incorporating profound changes into their lives." ~ Bonnie Lowen, Ph.D, Music Professor, student of the Vox Mundi Programs.
BIOS
Silvia Nakkach, MA, MMT
An internationally known pioneer in the field of sound and transformation of consciousness, Silvia has cultivated a voice that transports listeners into the heart of devotion. Her original vocal work ranges from traditional Indian ragas to contemporary vocal improvisation. She is also an award-winning composer, former music psychotherapist, author, and recording artist. For 28 years, she has studied Hindustani music with the late maestro Ali Akbar Khan. She is on the faculty of the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, where she created the Sound, Voice, and Music Healing certificate, and also designed the academic master’s degree in integrative health with a focus on sound healing. Nakkach is the founding director of Vox Mundi School of the Voice, an international project devoted to teaching and preserving sacred-music traditions. She has released nine CD-albums and is the author of Free Your Voice, Awakening to Life through Singing, published by Sounds True.
Barbara Voinar
Barbara has studied widely in diverse yoga lineages, and her teaching style is infused with the influences of Siddha, Iyengar, Anusara yoga, and Tibetan Buddhism. Through her love of chanting and meditation she has collaborated in teaching with many gifted and respected teachers. Decades after her first exposure to yoga, Barbara continues to discover the radically simple practice of being open and alert. The yoga can take many outward shapes, but the inside shape is always the same – the experience of peace and inner well-being.
Master drummer Val Serrant will provide percussion accompaniment.
