Michael Bloch, PhD, will discuss ways that neuroscientists such as himself test and observe the abilities of the left brain, the right brain, and the interactions between these structures. He will discuss brain abnormalities (split brain, brain damage, learning differences), and the effects of changing conditions (such as administering aromatherapy stimuli) on the brain's processing modes. He also will discuss the possible role of the right hemisphere in presentiment as well as the role that aromas may play in mind/matter interactions.

Michael Bloch received his PhD in Cognitive Neuropsychology from the University of Southern California in 1989. Since 1993 he has been a member of the Psychology department at the University of San Francisco. His research has investigated hemispheric asymmetry and integration in normal and disabled populations as well as the effects of certain olfactory stimuli on hemispheric processing and consciousness. Currently he is a visiting scholar at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, investigating the role that odors and the right hemisphere may play in the interaction of consciousness and the physical world.
