New Thought is a spiritual movement based on the concept that there are laws in the spiritual world just as there are natural laws in the physical world, and that these spiritual laws act on our thoughts resulting in form. New Thought started in the United States during the third quarter of the nineteenth century. It includes Christian Science, Divine Science, Unity, Religious Science, and a number of independent spiritual centers and churches.

John will discuss the development and evolution of the New Thought Movement. This will include a brief description of each of the major teachers and founders, and how they learned from each other. Then he will discuss the basic principles of the New Thought Movement with an emphasis on those from Religious Science.

John is a long time member of the IONS community group in Chattanooga and a charter member of the Knoxville community group. He has been following the teaching of Religious Science since 2003. He is a professor emeritus in forestry at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

We hope to see you there.

From Interstate 75 going from downtown toward Atlanta and Knoxville, Take the Germantown exit. Turn left on Germantown Road. Take the 2nd Street to the left: this is Navajo Drive. Go about the length of 3 blocks and you will see the sign for the Church on the left.
