An 8-week course facilitated by Angela Murphy with the co-authors of the book Living Deeply
May 9th — June 27th, 2012 | 5 to 6:30pm Pacific Time
Registration is now closed
Transforming your consciousness may be the most important thing you can do for yourself and the world.
This course will focus on the power of transformative experiences to change your life for the better. You'll learn practical tools for personal transformation based on 10 years of IONS research into the nature of transformative shifts in consciousness. Through presentations, experiential activities, and discussions, we'll explore questions such as What is a transformation of consciousness? What triggers transformation? How can we sustain the moments that move us beyond ourselves? and How can transformational experiences actually change our lives?
The text for this course is Living Deeply: The Art & Science of Transformation in Everyday Life, by Marilyn Schlitz, PhD, Cassandra Vieten, PhD, and Tina Amorok, PsyD. Course facilitator Angela Murphy is IONS' Director of Media.
This live audio course will meet each Wednesday evening from 5-6:30pm (Pacific Time). From 5-6pm we will explore the chapters of the book, followed by an optional half-hour of moderated small group discussions. Group discussions are available only over the phone, but the main part of the class is available either over the phone or over the internet. Recordings of the weekly sessions will be available only to those enrolled in the course. Registration is required.
Living Deeply is part of IONS' unique transformational learning series based on scientific findings and designed to encourage the development of consciousness-based practices in healthcare, education, and a more sustainable world.
This course contains eight lessons based on the nine chapters in the book Living Deeply. Each class is offered as a one hour teleclass with an optional half-hour for discussion, and includes related materials and suggested practices to deepen your transformative experience and growth. You can participate in each live teleclass and/or listen to it later — and you can access the related materials any time you like. Audio recordings of the classes will be available to registered course members for one year.

Participate in IONS' Research!
Course registrants will have an opportunity to take the same assessment that participants in the Living Deeply research study took, before and after this eight week course.
This online survey was designed to help researchers investigate questions such as Can contemplative practices really foster the transformative process? Is a teacher or community of like-minded practitioners useful? and What kinds of practices are most helpful to what kinds of people?
