This weekend workshop is a taste of summer camp with a grown up twist. Step out of your routines, explore new activities, and reinvigorate your inner life through outdoor activity, meditation, movement, and self care. Come and play - there will be something to stretch your horizons whether you consider yourself an outdoor type, a dedicated meditator, or spend most of your time behind a desk managing the stresses of professional life. The weekend will include a balance of adventure, inner activity, and personal time to relax, hike, or enjoy a bodywork session.
Offering stunning surroundings, comfortable accommodations, and delicious meals created with organic, locally grown food, we’ll be taking full advantage of EarthRise's miles of hiking trails, extensive permaculture garden, and hot tub overlooking the rolling hills of Sonoma County countryside. We’ll also carpool to travel off campus, exploring more of Sonoma County’s outdoor environment and experience a vigorous hike.
About the workshop leaders:
Ellen Tynan's focus is creating opportunities for people to experience their true nature through exploration and contemplation in the wild. Her teaching is informed by her own firsthand experiences of awakening in nature, as well as from her work with teachers Jonathan Foust, Alan Chapman, Tara Brach, and others. Ellen has practiced Insight Meditation for over 10 years and teaches with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington, DC.
Karen Gifford began meditating in 1999 as a way of coping with the stress of her job as a lawyer in New York City. She studied and practiced meditation in a yoga tradition for over 10 years and later worked with Alan Chapman, who approaches spiritual awakening from a Western contemplative perspective. Karen approaches teaching with a strong focus on meditation as a means to better understanding the mind, the nature of reality, and our connection with others—and with a view of enlightenment as a realistic and attainable goal. More about Karen’s background and approach can be found on her website: karengifford.org
We are offering this workshop at an introductory rate of $385 per person, based on double occupancy. There are a limited number of single occupancy rooms available at a higher rate.
