Silvia Nakkach is a recognized authority on the healing power of music, sound, and the voice. She is a pioneer in the use and integration of sacred sound with contemporary practices of transformation of consciousness in music psychotherapy and health care. She travels extensively throughout the world offering seminars, training, lectures, concerts, and leading study groups in India, Spain, Hawaii, Argentina, and in Bahia, Brazil.
Val Serrant is a steel pan/traditional drummer from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Serrant frequently performs and teaches about Caribbean music in schools and is also a member of Afrika Heartbeat, founded by Sikiru Adepoju. A great friend of the late Nigerian percussionist Babatunde Olatunji and culture worker Constance Williams, Serrant believes in being a positive force for change in the community.
Michael Knapp received his Master’s of Arts degree in Music Composition from Mills College, where he studied with Lou Harrison. He also completed a Master’s of Music degree in Cello Performance from San Francisco State University. Michael studied cello with Lazslo Varga, Janos Starker, and Ralph Kirschbaum. He has composed and performed music for four CDs with Silvia Nakkach: Seeker, Poems Invisible, Ah, and Inside.
