Shamini Jain, PhD
Shamini Jain, PhD, is a psychologist, a scientist, and a social entrepreneur. She is an assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at University of California San Diego, where she is also chair of the Center for Integrative Medicine Research Committee. Dr. Jain is the founder and director of the Consciousness and Healing Initiative, a collaborative effort that links scientists, practitioners, entrepreneurs, and educators to facilitate an understanding of consciousness and consciousness-based practices and healing. Her clinical research is in psychoneuroimmunology and integrative medicine, and her extramural research has examined the impact of integrative medicine interventions on cancer patients, PTSD patients, and heart failure patients. Dr. Jain has received numerous awards for her work, and her NIH-funded research on biofield healing has been featured in Time magazine and on CNN. She regularly speaks about psychoneuroimmunology, integrative medicine, and healing, at venues as diverse as NASA and TEDx, and she writes about these topics online for sites such as the Huffington Post and Fulfillment Daily.
