Marilyn Schlitz, PhD
Marilyn Schlitz, PhD, is a professor and the chair of the transpersonal psychology doctorate program at Sofia University. She is also president emeritus and a senior fellow of IONS, as well as a senior scientist at the California Pacific Medical Center and a board member of Pacifica Graduate Institute. Dr. Schlitz is a social anthropologist, a researcher, an award-winning writer, a film producer, and a public speaker. For more than three decades, she has been a leader in the field of consciousness studies, with research and extensive publications focusing on personal and social transformation, cultural pluralism, extended human capacities, and mind-body medicine. Her broad and varied work has given her a unique ability to help individuals and organizations identify and develop the personal and interpersonal skills twenty-first century leaders need. Dr. Schlitz’s books include Consciousness and Healing: Integral Approaches to Mind Body Medicine, Living Deeply: The Art and Science of Transformation in Everyday Life, and Death Makes Life Possible. She also wrote and produced a feature film, Death Makes Life Possible, with Deepak Chopra, which appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Network. She is currently creating enrichment programs for health professionals and lifelong learning.
